🏺 PREHISTORIC ROOTS

An ancient burial site in the surrounding landscape revealed a pottery urn, cremated remains, a flint knife and a flint arrowhead. Real discoveries offering a glimpse into the lives and beliefs of people here long before our modern roads and farms.

👣 MEDIEVAL FOOTSTEPS

A surviving stone cross marks an old route across the moors - a reminder of the travellers who passed through this landscape centuries ago.

🌳 FORESTS, FARMERS AND DROVERS

The wider area has links to the historic Macclesfield Forest hunting reserve, generations of farming and an old drovers' inn with a history stretching back around 400 years. People worked here, travelled here and stopped along the way.

🐾 SMALL STORIES MATTER TOO

A weathered memorial remembers "Roy - A Faithful Friend - December 1923." We don't yet know Roy's story, but someone clearly thought their faithful companion deserved to be remembered. ❤️

🪙 WHAT MIGHT THE FIELDS REVEAL?

With farming and travelling history like this, coins, buckles, buttons and horse fittings are possibilities worth imagining. Could an older loss be waiting too?
